3rd - 6th Grade Mystery Book Reading Suggestions

Book Genre: Mystery
Definition: The characters are trying to solve a puzzle that often involves a
crime. The writer gives clues to the reader. The author may also give false clues.

(I found this great kid friendly definition HERE. You can also print out flashcards that contain 24 different genres along with their definitions. Such a great resource).

The 4th grade class I am teaching right now has been assigned to do a "Mystery Book Report" for the month of September.
I wanted to compile a list of mystery book suggestions for my students to help them with their book selection process for their book reports. I wanted my students to be excited about reading a mystery book and to see that there were many different mystery genre options out there for them to choose from.

I had a lot of fun going through my own personal library as well as researching the best age appropriate mystery books to put together my "Fabulous Mystery Books List".

Although I made this list for my 4th Grade class, it includes books that are on a 3rd-6th grade reading level. The book list I created contains: the book title (or series name), author's name, suggested grade reading level, and a few book covers. You can CLICK HERE to get your own copy of my mystery book list. Please make sure to use this FREE printable for personal or classroom use. Thanks!

I can't wait to share with you the fun "Mystery Book Report" I came up with for my students. I hope the kids are as excited to do the book report as I was to create it! I will be sharing the book report with you soon.

Do you have anymore great mystery books that you think would be wonderful to add to this list? I would love to hear them.
